With sadness, I announce that Pastor Paul Rudy of Anchor Baptist Church passed away in the early morning hours today. A message from his wife Elaine is further below.
I am strongly urging all Managers and assistants, as a show of solidarity with Anchor Baptist, make the drive up to Genoa City, WI this Wednesday evening to pay their respects. The scripture verse on the League website banner says "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16"
Altering your schedule in support of a hurting Rudy family, and hurting brothers and sisters in Christ who attend Anchor, and or play on the Anchor team, would indeed be "good works".
IF we are able to play this evening, we will assemble at Field 2 at 6:20 for a moment of silence, then a joint prayer prior to the start of the 6:30 games. Anchor is scheduled to play at 6:30 on field 2.
Frank at the Township e-mailed just a short time ago. The infields are doubtful at the Township.
No news is good news from the City of McHenry Parks and Rec. regarding the Shamrock infields.
Radar currently shows a strong isolated T-storm Northwest of Rockford making a very straight bee-line for the general area of the Township complex. Argh!
Bottom line, we are going to ATTEMPT to play this evening most likely using alternate field configurations. All managers please bring your equipment to set up bases in the grass. Please do NOT use bases from the Knaack box at Shamrock or The Township shed and 'shove' them into the soil in the outfields!!!
Lord willin', we'll see you this evening.
In Loving Memory
Paul William Rudy
August 12, 1956 - June 1, 2009
Paul passed from this earth into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father and the presence of his beloved Savior, Jesus , at 2:10 this morning.
I had arrived home yesterday afternoon. Paul was not visibly aware of me, and he was breathing very heavily. With his sleep apnea, he would occasionally stop breathing, then restart within half a minute or so.
All evening, his family and some church folks talked to him, read Scripture to him, and listened to soft Christian music. Before bed, our daughters and I prayed with him. I stayed up till after 11:00 pm, reading Revelation 21-22 and 2 Timothy 4:7-8 to him, encouraging him about heaven and that he had fought a good fight and finished his course. I fell asleep, but woke up around 1:15 when I didn't hear his
heavy breathing any more. I just prayed that maybe it was only his sleep apnea, but he never breathed another earthly breath. Ah, but he is breathing heaven's air now!
We will meet with Bruce Haase , the funeral director this afternoon. It does appear at this time that his viewing will be Wednesday evening, June 3 at Anchor Baptist Church , 315 Sumner St., Genoa City, WI ...
...and his funeral will be at 2:30 pm, Thursday, June 4 at the Haase, Derrick, Lockwood Funeral Chapel on Legion Drive in Twin Lakes , WI.
We want to have blank journals at both places for people to write their memories of Paul and ways God has used his life to influence theirs.
We will post more as it's finalized.
Thank you all for your prayers for our family at this time.
Elaine
