Instructions.
* One ballot per team.
* Ballot must be filled out by field manager.
* No need to return an absentee ballot if you will be represented by an asst. mgr. or some other designate.
* Ballot must be in my in-box by midnight February 19th.
* Please note ballot item 1 just below and SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.
* Doug Peterson will NOT cast a tie breaker vote for item one.
1.) Shall the pitchers rubber be retained at 50ft or moved back to 46ft?
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Managers are instructed to cast a proxy vote for their pitcher(s) by posing this issue to their pitcher(s) prior to voting at the meeting or by absentee ballot.
(Yes = retain at 50'. No = move back to old distance of 46')
2.) Shall the batters box rule be retained as one bat length forward of the leading edge of the plate? (If either foot steps on or goes over, batter is out.)
(Yes = retain as is. No = revert to old rule. Which was, trailing foot going forward of the leading edge of home plate.)
3.) Shall we again purchase all yellow high visibility softballs and no white softballs for daylight games?
(Yes = ALL yellow. No = Some Yellow and Some white depending on daylight vs night games.)
4.) Shall we amend the Shamrock ground rules as follows?
5.6 Special Ground Rules for Shamrock Park.
5.6.1 Applies at all time no matter if people are present in the
picnic shelter or playground or not. Boundary is the railroad ties
for the playground and the
concrete patio of the picnic shelter.
a.) DEAD BALL OUT; A ball that lands on the fly (including the
picnic shelter roof). Runners may not advance.
b.) DEAD BALL OUT; A ball that rolls or bounces in and strikes a person.
b.) GROUND RULE DOUBLE; A ball that rolls or bounces in but
does not strike a person. Runners advance 2 bases.
c.) LIVE BALL; Any ball that rolls past this area on either
side of it, provided it has not crossed within or over the boundaries
in which case one of the above applies.
d.) None of the above applies to the sidewalk. (See below.)
5.6.2 Applies ONLY when person(s) are present on the sidewalk between
the parking lot and playground:
a.) Ball is live if it does not strike a person.
b.) Ball is dead ball out if it strikes a person.
(Yes = adopt as listed above. No = keep current rule as shown on league website.)
5.) Shall a team be allowed to insert however many players they wish into the batting order that show up for their team? (Multiple DH's) They would be allowed one DH in hitting positions 1-11. After that, all other DH's would be at the bottom of the order. Once the lineup is presented, players are NOT allowed to be switched into another batting position.
(Yes = multiple DH hitters. No = ONLY one DH hitter in lineup.)
6.) Shall we amend the designated runner from home plate rule to allow a temporarily injured batter to have a substitute runner?
(Yes = injured player can have designated runner from home. No = Retain current rule which ONLY allows PERMANENTLY incapacitated batter to have sub-runner from home plate. Such a batter would never be able to run again in our league.)
7.) Shall the league rules as amended today be finalized today and no further changes made this year?
(Yes = After accounting for today's vote, the league rules are now 'set' for the year. No = Rules are not set until after the Spring meeting.)
