Memorial Day 2010

We pause now to remember the fallen and to reflect upon the great sacrifices so many gave for us.

They gave the ultimate sacrifice in generations past. They are freely giving the ultimate sacrifice in this present generation and will no doubt, willingly pay the ultimate sacrifice for future generations.

What shall we do to honor them for having paid so great a price for our Freedom?

One thing we can do is to put aside pacivity and do those "Good Works" that God has prepared ahead of time for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).

We can vote! Yes, vote. Our republic's survival is in part dependent upon us to live up to our end of the bargain.

We can donate time and money to good and noble causes in our own community and abroad. Re-call John McCains Republican Convention acceptance speech where he challenged all American's to; "...embrace a cause greater than ourselves."

We can refresh our memory by re-reading those noble documents payed for in blood by American soldiers. The Declaration of Independence. The Constitution of the United States. The Bill of Rights.

We can with gusto celebrate the 4th of July.

We can pray for our leaders, great and small. The ones we like and the ones we do not.

We can be on our guard for any foe, foreign and domestic, and if need be, bear the sword in defense of our Republic.

Also, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same." -President Ronald Reagan

I bid you peace on this Memorial Day weekend in the year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Ten.
