Good Morning everyone;
Today, I announce a SIGNIFICANT, but balanced award in regards the players of our league and their attendance at the Good Guys Game Sunday evening July 17th.
In making this announcement, I weighed the main issue of using an award that struck a balance between fairness and enough of an inducement to make you pause and consider going for the 'brass ring' as it were.
After Good Guys I and II, one thing that was apparent, and sadly so, was the almost total non-participation of the league rank and file players coming out and supporting this Charity game for the food pantry. This simply should not be.
So, in the hope that players will catch the spirit of this game and its enormous potential, I present to you, the Good Guys Award for 2011.
Two awards will be given. One for Gold and one for Platinum. The award will be given to the team with the highest number of players that attend the Good Guys game. A sign up sheet will be at the red canopy where players can check in AFTER the 7th inning stretch.
The team with the most amount of rostered players at the event will be awarded HOME field advantage for the FIRST playoff game of our summer tournament. This award will supersede the home field advantage the first place team will enjoy for the remainder of the Tournament.
Some of you will no doubt not agree with this. We can respectfully agree to disagree. In weighing this concept, I had earlier months back tossed out the idea of a high seed in the tournament. That punishes all teams that earned that spot. I also thought about and ruled out a 1 run handicap for game 1 of the tourny OR for ALL games of the tourny. That also seemed patently unfair.
The last two options I mulled were home field advantage for ALL tournament games OR home field advantage for game 1. The last option, I believe contains a balance between fairness and enticement.
So, spread the word amongts your fellow team mates and I believe we will see a dramatic turnaround in attendance at this years Good Guys vs Good Guys game.
Thanks!

Prez,
I think this should be voted on by the teams or team managers. That's my opinion.

Hey Jimmy K! Thanks for the comments.
On this issue though, we agree to disagree.
With 98% of the league MIA for the 2 first Good Guys Games, there really is no excuse considering this is a Christian League.
I'll give some the benefit of the doubt they are tied up with other things on the weekends, the rest just don't want to come because of ________________.
This simply should not be and I believe shows room for spiritual growth for the league rank and file as a whole.
This was further shown when I put out a call to pass the hat for the tornado victims. We raised $85 dollars. IF only $1 was given by every player, we should/could have raised over $400.
I believe that even a church softball league has an obligation to be salt and light. This is our opportunity to be that externally facing the community at the Good Guys event.
Hope to see you at the game!
