Regarding Last Minute Substitutions.
We all from time have probably run into a situation where you are short a player and do not want to disappoint your team by not playing.
Getting a last minute fill-in at the ball fields IS permitted. However, this player cannot be a fan. This player you grab must be a rostered player either from your sub list (assuming you have one) or on the roster of another team.
There are a lot of implications that preclude us from allowing fans to take the field at the last minute as a sub.
They obviously have not gone through any of the vetting process that your regulars have. They have signed nothing and the Pastor has not authorized their play on your team. So they are ineligible to play.
If you find yourself needing to get a last minute sub to field 9 players, please consult with your fellow manager on the other team to make them aware of the situation. Managers are expected to be understanding in this situation and allow the game to proceed as scheduled, just as I am sure, Christ would!
What happens if the team wins the game with the borrowed and eligible player?! The game counts!
Now, if the player is ineligible, this would be a forfeit.
If you are forced to borrow more than 1 eligible player, you are playing a forfeited game for the sake of all those that were able to come, but you do lose by forfeit regardless since you did not show up with the minimum amount of rostered players, 8.
...and of course the monkey in the wrench question, 'what if both teams show up with not enough players?' If both teams show up with 7 or less players, I would say, re-schedule the game.
ps. I have confirmed this was an honest oversight and it will not happen again.
