Winter Meeting Part II Agenda and Ballot

Part II of the Winter meeting will be held on Saturday March 14th at
Maranatha Assembly of God Church in McHenry on Ringwood Rd.

It is critical that teams that had ZERO representation send a representative to this meeting. Because your church was not represented, (The Chapel, Joy Community Presbyterian Church, Harvest Bible Church, Grace Fellowship of Woodstock, First United Methodist Church, Mount Hope United Methodist Church, CrossPoint Church, and
Fellowship of Faith 2) you had minimal if any input on the plans and discussion for the 2009 season. (Though 2 churches above cast absentee ballots.)

Be there at 9am as we expect to wrap things up by 10:30.

Agenda items and absentee ballot follows.

Agenda for Winter Meeting Part II

Instructions, if you absolutely cannot make part II of the meeting AND
you will NOT have a representative present, please cast your ballots
by responding to this e-mail and voting yea or nae on the items that
follow. Your vote WILL be counted and they will be logged secretly
(yes I'll know but NO I will not share how you voted with anyone.)

Each team is allowed ONE vote (SOTH and FOF have 2 teams and thus are
eligible for 2 votes, one per manager).

IF you vote in absentia and a representative shows up for part II of
the meeting, they will NOT be issued a ballot but are of course very
welcome to participate in all other discussions.

Ballot Item #1
Motion to overturn or amend;
Shall the league have a minimum church member requirement per team
based on the size of the congregation
If average attendance is 0-50, then 1 must be a member
If average attendance is 51-75, then 2 must be members
If average attendance is 76-100, then 3 must be members
If average attendance is 101-125, then 4 must be members
If average attendance is 126-150, then 5 must be members
If average attendance is 151-175, then 6 must be members
If average attendance is 176-200, then 7 must be members
If average attendance is 201-225, then 8 must be members
This ballot item passed 12-4 at the Winter Meeting last Saturday. 8
church teams did not cast a ballot.

As passed, this rule would be impossible to enforce and severely
restricts a church's ability to use the softball team as an outreach
to non-church members. As league President, I have a serious concern
in regards to this and do not wish the league to become a cloistered
group.

You may vote nae for both the below, which will sustain the vote from
last week OR you may vote yea on one of the below to overturn or amend
the rule passed last week.

Option #1.
Overturn this rule completely.

Option #2
Amend the rule to have a minimum 2 members of the church on the
roster. No other requirements.

Ballot Item #2
Shall the league adopt a 50 minute time limit for games? At 50
minutes from elapsed time, the umpire would announce 'last inning'. If
the home team is ahead, it is visiting teams last wraps. 'Elapsed
time' will be set with an egg timer upon the words "Play Ball".
Caveats;
Games could end in a tie. Last inning literally is it.
Slaughter rule and circuit breaker high score rule would be null and void.

This vote will require a 2/3rds majority of votes cast. I'd like to
see 24 votes cast on this!!!

Ballot Item #3
Shall the league amend rule 2.4 and push back the pitchers mound from
the current 46 feet to a distance of 50 feet from the leading edge of
home plate?

Ballot item #4
Shall the league amend the batters box rule 5.5 which currently reads
"If a batters rear foot steps on the line representing the leading
edge of home plate, that shall be considered stepping out of the
batters box and the batter is out without exception or discussion."
and amend the rule to read; "The leading edge of the batters box will
be determined by drawing a line in the dirt 3ft in front of the
leading edge of the plate. If the batters foot touches that line,
they are out without exception or discussion."

Prez's Comment; I can't find a written rule anywhere that places the
batters box that far out in front of the plate. I believe the
distance of 3 ft is too liberal.
