Speaking of a 45-10 score, I was reminded that this can potentially skew our tie breaker scenarios at the end of the season where we have had to use the run differential (runs scored minus runs allowed) in order to determine final standings. The reminder recalled that in 2009 a moratorium was placed on these games to the effect that the maximum reportable score would be whichever occurred first, slaughter or circuit breaker for innings 4, 5 or 6.
Even if we just use runs allowed, a game played under 'waiver' conditions could still be skewed.
The desire to 'keep playing' is understandable, especially if you still put subs in at the inning 4 or 5 mark.
But we still need to have a fair way to have these tie breakers because we have indeed used them.
So the moratorium remains in place. You can keep playing under 'waiver', but the maximum reportable score will be whichever came first, slaughter or circuit breaker.
So under these conditions, please meet at home plate, determine the score to be reported and then continue playing.
If the team that is losing stages a miracle comeback, unfortunately, they still lose.
Any reported score over 20 runs will be scrutinized by the league to insure compliance.
