Field Maintenance Protocol
McHenry Township is to rehabilitate the ball fields by re-crowning the infields in order to improve drainage. Field 4 is targeted for NEXT week.
The Township will make every effort to do this maintenance on one field per week during the week AFTER Monday evenings. In the event this is not possible and in order to alleviate schedule disruptions, the following procedure will be followed should a field be unavailable.
If field 3 or 4 is unavailable, the league will contact the affected teams. You will be presented these options. 1.) Play in the grass @ soccer or football field. 2.) Play in the outfield grass*. 3.) Play a ‘red eye’ game at 9:30. (See below for details). 4.) Treat the game as a rain out to be made up later.
Red Eye Procedures
If you elect to play a ‘red eye’ game at 9:30. Field 3 would move to Field 1 @ 9:30. Field 4 would move to Field 2 @ 9:30.
The League will also contact the managers playing on Field 1 or 2 to inform them a ‘red eye’ game is to be played at the conclusion of the 8:30 game.
For ALL 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 games on the lighted field where the ‘red eye’ game is to be played at 9:30, the 2 and 2 count will commence at the top of the 4th inning instead of the top of the 5th. No waiver will be granted for ANY game that evening, not even the 9:30 game.
Field 1 and 2 Field Maintenance.
A loss of these fields presents a different scheduling challenge. It is NOT expected the Township will close BOTH these fields at the same time, thus the following procedure will be followed.
If a lighted field is closed due to maintenance, affected managers will be contacted. The following options will be presented based on time slot:
6:30 game; 1.) Play in the grass @ soccer or football field. 2.) Play in the outfield of lighted field*. 3.) Treat game as rain out.
7:30 game; 1.) Play in the grass @ soccer or football field. 2.) Play in the outfield of lighted field*. 3.) Treat game as rain out.
8:30 game; 1.) Play in the grass @ soccer or football field. 2.) Play in the outfield of lighted field*. 3.) Play a ‘red eye’ game. 4.) Treat game as a rain out.
*Special Ground Rule is in affect for a game played in the outfield grass. Fair ball 1-3 over the fence is to be ruled a ground rule single. From the 4th fair ball over the fence onward in any inning, the ground rule is to be dead ball NO PLAY.
Please contact me if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks!
