Is their any way we can get crews together to maintain the fields or cover them so we don't keep having this issue with canceled games? Because I know last year all are games that got rained out never got made up and we pay to play. I hope that doesn't happen this year. Thanks

I would also like to know why every other field that I drove by yesterday had either a baseball or softball game being played on it. why is it that the fields we play on are unplayable but all the other fields are being played on????

Thanks for volunteering for the grounds crew. Call me at 815-382-1880. :-)

The Township maintains the fields and preps them on game day. Prep includes dragging the field and taking care of wet spots using sand or turface ($60 a bag). Consequently, fields that are too wet, are closed for that evening. McHenry Parks and rec does the same for Shamrock

For Hiller, Johnsburg ONLY cuts the grass. Infield maintenance is left up to the individual leagues. For us, we usually benefit from Johnsburg Pigtails use of the field on Sundays (and thus free prep work for us.)

Some fields are more playable than others based on 1.) Crown or slope of the infield. 2.) Underlying drainage characteristics of that field. 3.) Time, effort and money spend on maintaining that field.

In our case. T1 and T2 are the best draining fields, followed by S1 and S2, then Hiller, T3 and T4, by far the worst, as we all know.
